Rule 64B32-6.004, F.A.C., Procedures for Approval of Attendance at Continuing Education Courses
(3) (a) Beginning with the biennium ending May 31, 2009, each licensee will be required to have taken a continuing education course in emergency preparedness. This course shall count as two (2) hours of direct patient care credit. This course shall be taken each biennium thereafter and the two (2) hours credit shall count towards the minimum sixteen (16) hours needed to renew the license.
(b) Each continuing education course in emergency preparedness, at a minimum, must cover the following topics: natural disasters, man-made disasters and bioterrorism, pandemic flu, and respiratory care disaster response.
The minimum listed in the rule refers to the 16 hours of direct delivery of respiratory care services. The total number of hours for each biennium still remains 24.
Please understand, regardless of your initial licensure date, all licensure bienniums (two year periods) begin on June 1 of one odd year, and end May 31 of the following odd year.
