Morris, D.O., J.D. Award to Stephen R. Winn, Executive Director of the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association for his dedication, integrity, and commitment to improving healthcare for the citizens of Florida. The award was presented to Mr. Winn during the 2009 Annual FOMA Meeting and Convention.

As Ms. King was unable to attend the Board's meeting to receive the award, Ms. Howerton presented it to her in Tallahassee.

DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH ANNOUNCES NEW HEALTH CARE CLINIC ESTABLISHMENT PERMIT

The Florida Department of Health reminds establishments purchasing prescription drugs about the new health care clinic establishment permit requirement beginning January 1, 2009. The permit authorizes the purchase of prescription drugs by a professional corporation or professional limited liability company. It also authorizes the purchase of prescription drugs by corporations that employ veterinarians.

Health care practitioners or veterinarians who are purchasing prescription drugs under their professional license number are not required to obtain the permit.
