Can I apply for a temporary license?

No.  Although Section 468.807, F.S., authorizes the issuance of temporary licenses, the board has not implemented this law by promulgating rules.  It is not an option for applicants at this time.

An official transcript from the accredited institution at which the applicant's BS degree was awarded, indicating the degree awarded.

• If the applicant's bachelor's degree was not awarded in orthotics and prosthetics, certification of completion of an orthotics or prosthetics program, as applicable, recognized by the CAAHEP. 
• If the applicant completed a residency program certified by NCOPE, an original letter from the head of the residency program attesting to successful completion of the program.

What are the requirements for licensure as an Orthotic Fitter Assistant?

• Successful completion of the 32-hour Trulife or the 32-hour Surgical Appliance Industries orthotics course and examination, and
• Completion of an approved eight hour course in custom-molded shoes.
• Certification of completion of an 8-hour course in casting custom-molded shoes.

The minimum 120 hours of training must meet the following requirements:

• The training must take place in a program approved by ABC
• The training must include the five major domains:
• Pedorthic assessment, techniques and applications
• Patient management
• Practice management and professional responsibility
• The internship must consist of 80 hours of Pedorthic work experience under the direct supervision of a licensed orthotist, licensed pedorthist, and orthotist certified by ABC, or a pedorthist certified by ABC.

If I'm not licensed as a prosthetist, orthotists, orthotic fitter, orthotic fitter assistant, or pedorthist, may I practice under direct supervision of a practitioner who is licensed in Florida?

You may only provide services as "Support Personnel" as referenced in Chapter 468.808, F.S.
